MIPIM ’09: Amey confirms Birmingham office requirement

Infrastructure services company Amey this morning confirmed its search for a 70,000 sq ft office in Birmingham at the annual MIPIM conference in Cannes.

Speaking on the Birmingham Stand at MIPIM, Amey chief executive officer Chris Webster revealed the requirement, tipped by EGi News last week (6 March).

Webster said the company wanted to create an international design hub and would be creating 500 jobs over the next two to three years.

Webster said: “We are looking for a prestigious building worthy of a design HQ and within walking distance of New Street station.”

Amey already has offices in the city and has worked on several iconic Birmingham landmarks including Spaghetti Junction.

The company is looking to make a decision by the end of the year or early next.

Last week EGi News revealed that Amey had shortlisted several schemes for its initial requirement, including Bruntwood’s McLaren Building and Nurton Development’s Number 2 Colmore Square.
