MIPIM 2007: North Ayrshire URC brings forward first sites

Irvine Bay urban regeneration company is to bring its first two projects to market following its launch at this year’s MIPIM in Cannes.

The south-west of Scotland URC, which was formally incorporated as a company last October, is looking for development partners for an 11.5-acre harbourside mixed-use scheme and a 170-acre golf and leisure scheme.

Both schemes are in Irvine in North Ayrshire.

The links golf course scheme on land assigned to the URC by North Ayrshire council, will also include a residential element, ancillary golf activities and a hotel.

Patrick Wiggins, chief executive of the URC, said: “We have secured commitments from four key partners in terms of either cash or assets to begin to deliver our masterplan framework.”

Margaret Ford, the chief executive of English Partnerships, is also chairwoman of Irvine Bay URC. Dame Ford was born and raised in the area.
