Developer Peel Holdings has said it plans to “lobby” the government to help fast track its £4.5bn Wirral Waters scheme at
Speaking at MIPIM today, Peel development director Lindsey Ashworth said the company would attempt to “engage with government” at a national level in order to secure backing for the 18m sq ft scheme.
The development already has the backing of Wirral council, which has joined Peel at MIPIM to promote the scheme.
Ashworth said: “We need some kind of new structure in place to make sure we can all work together to make this happen.”
He added that the detail of exactly what type of help would be sought from government has not yet been decided.
Jim Wilkie, deputy chief executive of Wirral Council, said an outline planning application for the development masterplan is anticipated by Christmas, with a decision possible a year from now.
