The Welsh Rugby Union is drawing up plans for a major mixed-use development at the gateway to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Some 240,000 sq ft of commercial space is planned for the Westgate Plaza project, along with a 100-bedroom hotel and 75 flats.
If granted planning permission, the Alan and Gaunt Francis-designed project around Westgate Street could start in 2017 and complete 18 months later.
The WRU expects to finalise and submit plans by the end of the year.
It would also include restaurant and leisure space, a conference centre and two covered walkways leading into the stadium.
The site sits alongside Rightacre’s 1m sq ft Central Square development, which will be home to the new BBC Cymru headquarters.
