MJ Gleeson chief executive Jolyon Harrison has left the housebuilder after a lengthy pay dispute.
In a statement, the company said: “Following extensive discussions with Mr Harrison regarding his remuneration and succession planning, the board concluded it was not possible to find a mutually acceptable basis for Mr Harrison to continue as chief executive officer.”
Harrison has been chief executive at MJ Gleeson since July 2012.
In 2018, he received £2.9m in pay, comprising £1.9m incentive payouts, £480,000 salary, and £480,000 annual bonuses.
Last year, the board approved a 5.2% pay increase for Harrison to £505,000. This followed a 20% increase the previous year.
James Thomson, former chief executive of Keepmoat Homes, will join the MJ Gleeson board as chief executive on an interim basis, with immediate effect.
The board has begun a search for a long-term chief executive appointment.
