MOD and Bryant win consent for 40 acre residential scheme in Sutton Coldfield

MOD and Bryant Homes have won outline planning consent for 400 homes on 16.2ha (40 acres) at St George’s Barracks site in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

The consent, which is subject to a 106 agreement, specifies that 25% of the scheme should comprise affordable housing and that 1.62ha (4 acres) should be devoted to public open space, the provision of a play area and a local shop. The developers are also committed to replacing the playing fields with enhanced sports facilities at a local school and a financial contribution to a local community centre.

The MOD will continue to use the site’s existing Territorial Army base and the defence works services building.

Grimley advised the developers on the planning application.
