Moda has launched a consultation for a 700-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Southampton.
The site, 69-81 Commercial Road, is currently a 78,000 sq ft unoccupied office.
Moda’s proposed scheme would involve demolishing the existing block to develop three buildings ranging from six to 20 storeys.
The 700 PBSA beds will be split half-and-half between cluster rooms providing five-seven beds each and studios.
Moda will also provide a mix of amenities including a 24-hour reception, a lounge, a games area, a movie/gaming room, a gym, and meeting rooms.
The scheme is part of Moda’s PBSA platform, which aims to provide 10,000 student beds in five years.
The developer has already secured sites for 4,000 beds in cities including Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Leeds, with the first scheme set to start on-site later this year.
