Moda strengthens single-family homes team with trio of hires

Moda Living’s newly launched single-family homes arm, Casa by Moda, has made three senior hires in its development team.

Matthew Townson

Matthew Townson has been appointed director of development and projects, moving from Sigma Capital Group, where he spent 16 years, most recently as development director. He has 30 years of experience and has delivered PRS homes across the UK during his time at Sigma. At Casa by Moda, Townson will lead plans to develop 5,000 new rental homes worth more than £1bn across suburban locations, and will report directly to Moda chief executive Johnny Caddick.

Tim Mather has joined the team as senior land manager from Knight Frank, where he was an associate in the northern residential development department. Before that, he worked for Allsop and Cortland Group. He will now work with landowners, developers and development partners on forward funding and acquisition opportunities.

Peter Crabbe has been hired as technical manager, joining Moda from Keepmoat Homes and after roles with Linden Homes and Berkeley DeVeer. His new position will see him responsible for bringing new sites forward from pre-acquisition to the beginning of construction.

Casa by Moda was launched at the end of 2021 and has so far added 13 employees to its team in 2022, taking it to a workforce of more than 20. With its first sites in Yorkshire and the North West, the business plans to deliver a mix of one- to four-bedroom homes, with long-term renewable leases of up to three years in length with no upfront deposits required.
