Modern offices are “factory farms”, says Lipton

Modern office designs may look the business, but are often highly distracting human “battery chicken farms”.

Sir Stuart Lipton has said that office design has come to resemble “factory farming”, with design driven by cost. “People need to be free range.”

Office density has increased across the board, with typical space per person shrinking in the US by 8.3% to 18 sqm between 2009 to 2018.
