Montagu Evans has appointed Kate Brennan as lead partner for build-to-rent in its alternative living team.
Brennan is currently a director in CBRE’s valuation and advisory services team, specialising in BTR.
She will join Montagu Evans in June and will focus on identifying and securing sites, delivering planning consents and advising capital markets, including on valuations, funding and sales.
Brennan has 18 years of experience in residential real estate, with eight years at CBRE. Prior to this, she was an associate partner at Allsop for more than 11 years. She has worked with large funders Legal & General, M&G Real Estate and Grainger, as well as Lendlease, Aberdeen Standard and family housing specialist Hearthstone.
Craig McPhail, partner at Montagu Evans and head of its alternative living sector team, said: “Specialist advice is essential for unlocking BTR sites and funding mechanisms, and Kate will be a great asset to the team in this area.
“We’re focused on growth across all areas of the alternative living lifecycle – from PBSA and co-living through to senior living – and are looking forward to bringing in more people to work with our specialist team over the coming months.”
Brennan added: “The BTR sector has huge potential and in recent times has demonstrated great resilience – not only in its own right but as a bigger part of wider residential-led and town centre regeneration projects – helping to address the challenges of urban housing supply and providing new opportunities for institutional and private investors.”
