Montague to succeed Benson in top job at Crossrail

Network Rail Deputy Chairman Adrian Montague is set to take over as chairman of Crossrail from Sir Christopehr Benson, according to sources close to the organisation.

Sir Christopher became chairman of Crossrail – the 50/50 joint venture formed by Transport for London and the Strategic Rail Authority – in 2001.

He was chairman of the London Docklands Development Corporation from 1984 to 1988, managing director of MEPC from from 1976-88 and chairman of MEPC from 1988 to 1993.

Montague, who is chairman of the Network Rail property board and deputy chairman of Network Rail, chaired the government-commissioned review of the business case for Crossrail, published in July 2004.
