More City towers unlikely to emerge, says Peter Rees

Peter Rees, City planning officer, has called time on towers in the City of London.

The City Corporation’s planning officer said there is more sq ft of offices in the world than will be needed for at least the next two generations and “we are unlikely to need many more towers in the City,” he said.

Speaking to EG he said that many of the planned towers will not make it through to completion but that there will be news on at least one tower in the next few months if not weeks.

Rees added: “I am very positive about London but I am less certain about the rest of the planet.”
