The housing market is showing signs of a rebound after an increase in the number of homes being put on the market and official data revealing that prices in London have made a small recovery.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors said that the number of estate agents and surveyors reporting a rise in properties being put up for sale had overtaken those reporting a fall for the first time in more than two years.
Until now, homeowners had resisted selling because of fears that they were entering a downward market, with house prices slowing and economic uncertainty arising from the Brexit vote.
