The number of empty shops has increased for the first time in two years, according to figures from the British Retail Consortium.
The town centre vacancy rate rose from 10.1% in July to 10.3% in October. Footfall also fell by 0.8% in October year-on-year.
Meanwhile the collapse of Phones4U has left it’s administrators with £168m of unsecured debt, including a £78m unpaid tax bill, of which just 0.4%, or £672,000, will be paid.
