More student digs planned in Coventry

UNITE-logo-THUMB.jpegA partnership between Unite and Complex Development Projects has submitted a planning application for a major student accommodation scheme in Coventry city centre.

The 391-bedroom Millennium View scheme will include 6,000 sq ft of commercial space on Hales Street, Trinity Street and Palmer Lane, near Coventry’s Transport Museum.

It is hoped the project will be a catalyst for the wider regeneration of the area.

The proposals also include transforming a derelict office block on Palmer Lane into restaurants and bars.

The council-owned land has been a cleared site since 2001 and has had a number of proposals put forward for it over the past 15 years.

The news follows last week’s announcement by developer Barberry and Coventry University that it had submitted a planning application for a £54m, 1,116-bedroom student accommodation development at the former Royal Mail sorting office at Bishops Gate in Coventry city centre.
