More than 200,000 empty homes in England

More than 200,000 homes in England were empty for more than six months last year, the equivalent of £43bn worth of property, according to a report by Property Partner using figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The figure has fallen by 36% over the last 10 years, and is down 1.7% from 2015.

The city with the highest total was London, where 19,845 homes worth around £9.4bn remained empty. Birmingham had the next highest total, followed by Bradford and Liverpool.
