MORNING NEWS: Government planning reform and casual dining crunch

Theresa May’s planning reforms dominate headlines in the news this morning.
The prime minister is expected to outline changes to the National Planning Policy Framework to release more land for development and to remove planning powers from councils that miss their goals and give them to an independent inspector.

Elsewhere, the so-called casual dining crunch continues to play havoc on the high street with Carluccio’s reported to have hired advisers to look at strategic options, and The Restaurant Group, owner of chains such as Frankie & Benny’s and Garfunkel’s, is looking to sell some of its prime sites amid mounting pressure in the sector.
