Morrisons puts faith in partnership with Amazon

Wm Morrison, Britain’s fourth biggest supermarket chain, is to extend its online partnership with Amazon as it reported disappointing sales compared with those in last year’s hot summer.
Like-for-like sales fell 1.9 per cent in the second quarter, against a 6.3 per cent rise a year ago when they were boosted by the World Cup and royal wedding. The figure was better than expected, however, as was a 5.3 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £198 million in the half year to August 4.
