MRP proposes 750-home scheme for Bristol

MRP has launched plans for a 750-home scheme in Bristol comprising a mix of build-to-rent and purpose-built student accommodation.

The developer is proposing to redevelop the former Staples and Nisbets site on Houlton Street into a scheme with 500 PBSA beds, 200 BTR homes and 56 affordable homes, according to an environmental impact assessment lodged with the council ahead of a planning application.

MRP bought the site in 2019 and said in a consultation document that it has since been working closely with Bristol City Council. The plans form part of the Frome Gateway Framework and will include demolition of the existing buildings.

MRP’s proposed PBSA development will be 18 storeys in height and located in the western corner of the site adjacent to Houlton Street and Newfoundland Circus.

The affordable homes scheme will be 10 storeys in height, with homes ranging from two to five bedrooms.

The BTR development will be located in the south area of the site adjacent to Wellington Road and will be a staggered block split into eight and 11-storey buildings. It will include homes ranging from one to six bedrooms.
