Marks & Spencer’s share price has come under pressure following technical problems that have affected delivery times.
The company has been experiencing difficulties at its new 900,000 square foot national distribution centre, located in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, it said. A spokesman for M&S said the success of its “Black Friday” promotion had meant it had had to extend its standard delivery time to 10 days from between three and five ordinarily.
M&S isn’t the only retailer to suffer: Debenhams’ website has been displaying a warning that “due to Black Friday demand, some of our standard deliveries may run late”. A spokesman for the company, however, said that while there had been minor delays on some deliveries, these were back to normal.
