Muse Developments has been given the go ahead for a new office development in the Talbot Gateway area of Blackpool.
The scheme, designed by Make Architects, will transform the 2.4-acre site in Blackpool town centre into a 270,000 sq ft office and 5,400 sq ft health centre. It is currently occupied by a surface car park and a row of two-storey properties with commercial on the ground floor and flats above.
It also features the historic Hop pub, which dates back to the 1800s and is listed locally as a heritage asset. Part of the pub will be retained in the new scheme, with part turned into a new dental practice.
The £50m office redevelopment will form the latest element of the 1.1m sq ft Talbot Gateway masterplan, which also includes new offices for the council, a large Sainsbury’s and a Holiday Inn hotel.
Avison Young, which advised on planning, said the scheme represented the “important next step” in delivering the comprehensive regeneration of Talbot Gateway.
Plans for this latest element were submitted in December.
