Muse submits plans for Blackpool gateway scheme

 


Muse Developments has submitted a planning application for the £220m Talbot Gateway scheme in Blackpool.


 


The mixed-use development aims to transform the north-eastern part of the town around Blackpool North railway station.


 


The proposals comprises more than 900,000 sq ft of office and business space, plus a major food store, hotels, retail and cafes/restaurants. The scheme will also include a new HQ for Blackpool council.   


 


Muse aims to start on-site in 2011with the first phase which will consist of the council offices and food store, alongside public realm and infrastructure works.


 


The scheme will be delivered in partnership with Blackpool council, urban regeneration company ReBlackpool and the North West Development Agency.


 


Mike Horner, regional director at Muse, said: “This scheme will change the face of the town and we’re hopeful that it will act as a catalyst for growth for the rest of Blackpool.”


 


Doug Garrett, chief executive of ReBlackpool, added: “Talbot Gateway is a scheme that will bring business and the local community together in a high quality public space, making the area more attractive to new ventures. The aim of this project is to transform Blackpool into a year-round resort and revitalize the town centre.”
