Nama fears over staff departures

Staff retention is a “concern” for Nama, where 37 out of 370 employees have left so far this year, the agency’s chief executive Brendan McDonagh said.

McDonagh was speaking at the International Corporate Restructuring Summit in Dublin yesterday.

He declined to comment on whether he had been approached himself by private sector employers.

Notable departures from Nama this year include head of asset management John Mulcahy, who left the agency in January and now holds a position on the board of IPUT, and Donal Kellegher, a senior property adviser who left to become chief investment officer at IRES REIT.

Kellegher left IRES REIT after just five months in the job to take up the role of head of development land with DTZ Sherry Fitzgerald. Earlier this week, IRES REIT announced that it had appointed Charles Coyle, a senior property advisor at Nama, as vice president of acquisitions. Coyle is currently on gardening leave.
