Names granted leave to appeal against fraud ruling

220 former Lloyds Names have been granted leave to appeal against the High Court ruling last year that cleared the insurance market of fraud.

Lloyds was cleared last November of allegations by the Names who claimed 33 members of the Lloyds committee concealed the extent of asbestos-related losses worth more than £4bn.

They also claimed the executives recruited new members to help plug a financial hole. The appeal will start in January.
