Overall, 2019 was a challenging year across most sectors, owing to uncertainties around the political landscape and, in turn, economic implications. We did, though, see continued strong demand for industrial/warehouse space from occupiers, and a lack of suitable space within this sector has resulted in good rental growth. 

“The office market in Sussex remained varied. Brighton was the star performer, where headline rents achieved on grade-A space are now regularly in excess of £30 per sq ft, and in some instances touching £35 per sq ft. 

“On a national level, the retail market has been struggling, but locally we have still been able to let units if landlords are willing to be flexible. 2020 has seen a strong and busy start, which we expect to continue.”
