National Grid boss calls for urgent planning reform

The boss of the National Grid has warned that climate goals will not be reached unless the planning system is urgently reformed.

John Pettigrew, chief executive of the FTSE 100 utility, said action was needed “right now” to improve the planning process and overhaul the system of grid connections.

The government has promised a series of measures, but it is not clear when they will be implemented.
