National Power has drawn up fresh plans in the fight to push through its controversial proposal to burn orimulsion – dubbed the world’s filthiest fuel – in Pembroke, South Wales. Local councillors are due to decide whether to give the go-ahead for a small but vital part of the project – a jetty in Milford Haven – at which huge tankers laden with the fuel would dock.
Supporters of the plant claim that 1,200 jobs would be created during the four-year construction period and guarantee there would be 350 jobs a year for 15 years after it was commissioned.
