Native Residential appointed to run British Land’s BTR debut

Build-to-rent operator Native Residential has been appointed by British Land to commence pre-mobilisation services on the second phase of Aldgate Place, E1, a 136,000 sq ft residential-led, mixed-use scheme.

The development, adjacent to Aldgate East Tube station, will comprise 159 BTR homes, 19,000 sq ft of office, 8,000 sq ft of retail and an upgrade to the public realm.
Native Residential has started putting together an operating team for the scheme ahead of its opening to ensure the building and its services are ready on time.

The net zero carbon development is British Land’s first foray into BTR. Phase one of the scheme, which included 304 apartments and a 160-bedroom hotel, was completed in 2017.

The scheme has a BREEAM Excellent office rating and a four-star Code for Sustainable Homes rating.

Debra Yudolph, a partner at Say, which appointed the operator, said: “Native not only has a proven track record but has also demonstrated a genuine synergy with the scheme and British Land’s culture and values.”

Guy Nixon, chief executive and founder of Native Group, said: “This appointment recognises our capability to provide a single operator solution for mixed-use assets and will bring together a wide range of unique disciplines across Native Residential’s business, including the creation of market intelligence, brand and digital channels to drive strong demand.”
