Manchester Council planners will next week consider Natwest Group’s plans for the remodelling and refurbishment of the 11,100 sq m (119,483 sq ft) 55 King Street in the city centre.
Under the group’s proposals the building could provide up to 3,575 sq m (38,500 sq ft) of retail space with an additional 1,090 sq m (11,720 sq ft) for leisure use. The rest of the building will provide offices on seven upper floors.
High-profile retail occupiers on King Street include Giorgio Armani, DKNY and Jigsaw Man. A letting to Mulberry last June set a record Zone A rent of £200.
A spokesman for Natwest said: “There are several key players in the Manchester market who will be considering King Street”.
The building became surplus to requirements for Natwest when it took new offices in Amec’s Great Bridgewater scheme and moved its banking branch to Spring Gardens.
Healey & Baker and Lambert Smith Hampton are NatWest’s agents.
