NatWest targets Brixton’s Edmund Street scheme in Birmingham for 40,000 sq ft call centre

National Westminster Bank is understood to have selected Brixton Estate’s 12,681 sq m (136,501 sq ft) refurbishment of 120 Edmund Street, Birmingham for a 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) call centre. Brixton is quoting an asking rent of £193 per sq m (£18 per sq ft), excluding car parking.

NatWest had also targeted Richardson Barberry’s Maple House scheme on Priory Queensway but is believed to have been pipped at the post by the Royal Mail.

NatWest is looking to combine two separate requirements, for a call and a lending centre, in the same building.

Meanwhile, BT continues to search in the city centre for space to fulfil its requirement for 3,251 sq m (35,000 sq ft) generated by the reshuffling of its central Birmingham property holdings.

Also, BT is due this week to complete its deal to occupy National Mutual’s 4,887 sq m (52,605 sq ft) No 1 Trinity Park out at Birmingham International Airport.

Grimley is advising NatWest. DTZ Debenham Thorpe is acting for BT. Both DTZ and Hillier Parker are letting agents on 120 Edmund Street.
