NCP talks to Ipswich council about redeveloping car parks

National Car Parks (NCP) is talking to the local authority in Ipswich about opening up three key development sites in the town, which are currently being used for car parking.

The car park operator is in ‘active’ discussions with Ipswich borough council to decide the future development of The Cloisters, Cox Lane and Tacket Street car parks. The two parties have already reached an agreement to review plans to clear the three sites and invite developers to bid for the development opportunity.

Both NCP and the council anticipate that the site will be developed as a mainly retail complex with parking for some 1,000 cars.

John Theophilus, property director of NCP, said: “NCP is continually looking at ways to further improve the level of service it provides its customers. We are confident that we can provide a significantly better service if these car parks are redeveloped and more sophisticated parking equipment installed.”
