Network Rail picks St Modwen for Derby site

St Modwen has been selected by Network Rail to bring forward the redevelopment of the Chaddesden Triangle in Derby.

The 70-acre plot, next to Pride Park, is the largest freehold brownfield site in Derby, and has been identified by the city council as a strategic development project and regeneration priority.

Stuart Kirkwood, head of development for Network Rail, said: ‘Network Rail is committed to realising the potential of its estate in order to invest in the railway. This development will create jobs in Derby and drive regeneration.”

Around 15 expressions of interest were made for the site before a shortlist of seven was drawn up.

Network Rail and St Modwen will now enter detailed discussions on the structure of the joint venture.

Masterplan proposals will be submitted towards the end of the year.
