Network Rail property board hires two non-execs

Network Rail Property and Network Rail’s property board have appointed Sally Jones and Philip Lewis as non-executive directors.

Jones is former head of digital and technology at British Land, where she spent 13 years helping the firm enter new property sectors and adapt innovative technology. Jones was also a member of the board of advisers for WiredScore and a venture partner at PropTech1.

Lewis is a chartered surveyor and chief executive of the property division of Kirsh Group, which he joined 15 years ago. He was also non-executive deputy chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation. During this time, he helped oversee planning decisions for the Legacy Corporation area, including the Olympic Park, as chair of its planning committee. Lewis is also the former chair of Sport England and was the former UK head of Hines and Conrad Ritblat.

As non-executive directors, Jones and Lewis will provide advice and guidance on Network Rail Property’s long-term vision, strategy and performance.

Network Rail’s portfolio includes 19 of the biggest stations in the country and includes 600,000 sq ft of retail space. Alongside its joint venture and strategic partners, Network Rail Property plans to facilitate 30,000 new homes over the next decade and more than 5m sq ft of mixed-use space.

Mark Bayley, a non-executive director of Network Rail and chair of Network Rail’s property board said: “We are delighted to welcome Sally and Philip to support and guide the considerable future opportunity we have across Network Rail Property. Their extensive knowledge and experience will be enormously valuable as we continue to grow the income stream that our property portfolio generates, alongside the regeneration potential across our substantial brownfield estate.”
