Network Rail signs three new tenants

Network Rail has signed three new tenants, including a gay theatre, in a spate of new lettings set to revive the redeveloped arches in Vauxhall, SW8.

The commercial division of Network Rail has let four arches comprising 13,700 sq ft as part of its Albert Embankment scheme , a six-railway arch development that will make up 22,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

The new occupiers, all set to open by the end of the year, include LGBT theatre Above the Stag, which will move from its current Vauxhall premises on Miles Street into 7,761 sq ft of space spanning two arches.

The other tenants include Antic Collective, the team behind the likes of Brixton’s Dogstar and Effra Social and a new branch of the Bethnal Green-based taproom brewery Mother Kelly’s.

Alan Muir, director of Network Rail Commercial Estate, said: “We recognise the area as a whole is changing. However, we believe this does not need to be at the cost of the heritage of the area.

“We have redeveloped six arches on Albert Embankment with the first wave of tenants moving in late summer/autumn. Tenants that will only serve to enhance the area’s identity.”
