Networked Agency System

Astley Systems have produced a new, multi-screen estate agency system. This latest version, which initially comprises applications for residential sales and rental systems, is a development of the single-user Version 1, which is used by a number of agents in the London area.

The new system runs on any IBM or compatible system in single user form and on any DOS/Novell network. The system is also available for the Apple Macintosh and a Unix/Zenix version is due to be released shortly. Astley Systems claim, somewhat vaguely, that the speed advantage of Version 2 over older multi-user and network systems is considerable.

The Residential Sales application handles property and applicant records, matching of applicants/properties, negotiators, appointments and advertising diaries. In addition, an analysis module provides comparisons of prices by street, area or type plus accurate information for valuations and surveys. Other modules support the sales process with, for example, letters to clients, purchasers, solicitors and surveyors.

The entry price for the network version is £1,500 per network/branch and £750 for the single user system. Complete hardware and software systems for smaller agents have been installed from around £2,500 with larger systems on networks costing around £10,000 upwards, depending on the number of users.

The Rental application handles all aspects of a residential letting department and can be run on the same network as Residential Sales. Further information from Hugo Kirby, Astley Systems Ltd, 205 Harbour Yard, London, SW10 0QL (01-351 6852).
