Plans by former Manchester United footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs to redevelop part of Manchester’s city centre have drawn opposition from Historic England.
The project would see two skyscrapers – one with 21 storeys and the other with 31 – built close to the Grade I-listed town hall and library.
Historic England expressed great concern at the plans, saying they could cause a high level of harm to the conservation area and the setting of the buildings.
