EY, administrator for the collapsed gigafactory project Britishvolt, is preparing to put the site back up for sale.
The firm is considering options after Australian group Recharge Industries, which agreed to buy the site in Blyth, Northumberland, last year, remains in default.
EY said it had held discussions with other potential buyers for the site.
Northumberland County Council is understood to have set aside £15m to buy back the land if needed.
EY was appointed as administrator to the Britishvolt in January 2023.
