Emaar Properties plans to develop the tallest building in the world, The Tower, at its Dubai Creek Harbour project in Dubai.
Emaar said it expected The Tower to be marginally taller than the 828m Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, which Emaar also developed.
Work on the Santiago Calatrava Valls-designed scheme, which will cost $1bn (£710m) to build, is expected to start this summer and complete by 2020 when Dubai hosts the World Expo.
