Centre Parcs has bought a 375-acre site in County Longford, Ireland, on which it is to open a €200m holiday village.

The new park will have capacity for 2,500 people and will open in 2019, subject to planning. It will have 500 lodges, a spa and a swimming pool. It is estimated it will contribute €32m to Ireland’s GDP annually.

The purchase comes after a fifth Centre Parcs village was opened in Woburn Forest, Bedfordshire, last summer.

Centre Parcs owner Blackstone is currently deciding whether to pursue an initial public offering or sell the business to private equity firms.

Deutsche, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Barclays have been appointed to prepare for a listing this year. However, it has been reported that Dalian Wanda Group and Fosun International are considering bidding for the company.
