New Islington comes to Manchester

Urban Splash is to turn the rundown 25-acre (10.12ha) Cardroom estate in Manchester into New Islington.

The development will include waterways, artificial “garden” islands, a village green and woodland, a school and health centre, 1,400 new flats, houses, shops, workshops, offices, cafes and bars.

English Partnerships will spend about £20m reclaiming the area. The total value of the project is worth £200m.
