New Kier boss back on top after Carillion near-miss

The businessman who was about to join Carillion as chief executive when the company went bust has taken the top post at one of its troubled rivals.

Kier Group announced that Andrew Davies is to become chief executive in the middle of April, three months after the construction and maintenance business parted company with Haydn Mursell, its leader for the previous four years, following a botched rescue rights issue.

Davies, 55, has been without a full-time job for the past 18 months.
