New managing director for Asda Properties

Asda Properties chairman Manny Davidson has promoted property director Patrick Ranger to managing director. The move seems to confirm long-held City suspicions that Ranger, 39, is being groomed to run Asda when Davidson, 68, retires. Davidson and his family own 24% of the shares. The company also announced that James Scott has been appointed to the board to oversee the £300m investment portfolio. Mark Pollard has been put in charge of developments.
