New Olympic lifting gym to open in Holborn

Gym-generic-THUMB.jpegOlympic lifting gym Performance Ground, founded by ex-volleyball player Ioanna Karelia, is opening its first gym in London in Holborn, WC1.

It has agreed a deal to lease 23 Kingsway, taking 3,800 sq ft on an annual rent of £130,000 pa.

It offers a range of services including personal and group training for sports performance, Olympic lifting and powerlifting clubs. It also specialises in performance nutrition, sports therapy, sports psychology and corporate wellness.

Bobby Blake, associate director in Colliers International’s central London retail agency team, said: “This is the latest boutique gym to secure space in London and shows there is a continuing trend for specialist gyms opening at the moment. Converting the basement from offices to gym use at 23 Kingsway has unlocked previously undervalued space and also adds an extra amenity to the building occupiers and the surrounding area.”

Karelia said: “Performance Ground was born with a mission to empower athletes of all levels to unlock their body’s best performance. As a company, we are ambitious to grow and plan to roll out a range of performance services for athletes of all levels in the near future.”

Colliers International was joint letting agents with Farebrother representing CBRE Global Investors; Performance Ground was represented by Shackleton Retail.
