Plans to replace the iconic New Scotland Yard, SW1, with six towers have been approved.
Westminster City Council has given the go-head for the 14- to 20-storey towers to be built on the site of Metropolitan Police headquarters.
The 1.7-acre project, Ten Broadway, is being developed by Northacre and will comprise 268 flats, with 10 “affordable homes” included in the luxury apartment complex.
The developer has agreed a £10m contribution to housing elsewhere in the borough as part of its section 106 obligation.
Ten Broadway will also include shops on the ground floor, three levels of offices, luxury basement spas and car parking.
The site was marketed by JLL and was bought by Middle Eastern investment company Abu Dhabi Financial Group in 2014 for £370m – £120m above the guide price.
The Met, which moved into New Scotland Yard in 1967, is in the process of relocating to the Curtis Green Building on Victoria Embankment, SW1, in a £58m move.
