Hammerson and Hermes, the joint developers of Leicester’s £350m Highcross Quarter have signed up three new tenants each making their debut in the city.
Hobbs is to open a 2,465 sq ft store, while All Saints will be opening a 5,403 sq ft shop. Both retailers will be trading from ground floor and mezzanine levels. They join a fashion line-up which includes Zara, Reiss, Next, H&M, New Look, River Island and Republic.
Following on from recent lettings to YO! Sushi, Wagamama and The Handmade Burger Company, Carluccio’s has also signed up to open a 3,606 sq ft restaurant within the scheme’s Covent Garden-style restaurant quarter.
Set to open in October 2008, Highcross Leicester will absorb the existing Shires shopping centre to become a single scheme of over 1.1m sq ft incorporating over 100 fashion retailers, 15 cafés and restaurants, three department stores – John Lewis, Debenhams, and House of Fraser – 120 flats, 3,000 parking spaces, and Leicester’s very first city centre multiplex cinema.
The scheme will be anchored by a four-storey 236,800 sq ft John Lewis department store, and designed as a series of open streets and squares.
Sheila King, director of UK retail leasing at Hammerson, said: “Leicester is undergoing a major transformation. The quality of retailers and catering operators coming into Highcross demonstrates our belief that the scheme is set to become the region’s leading destination for aspirational and lifestyle shopping.”
Joint letting agents are Cushman & Wakefield and DTZ.
