New tenant bounces into vacant Watford John Lewis

SGS Group has signed a deal with leisure operator Flip Out to open a 33,000 sq ft indoor adventure park at its 1.4 m sq ft Atria Watford shopping centre in Hertfordshire.

It has agreed a 15-year lease on the space.

It will open in the former John Lewis store, which closed in summer of 2020, and will offer activities such as dodgems, soft play areas, a gaming zone, roller-skating, a ninja playground arena and laser quest experience.

It will also have a diner.

Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, which manages the shopping centre for SGS, said: “Experiences now sit at the core of retail. Guests no longer visit our centres simply to shop – footfall is driven by the offer of a ‘day out’, with a strong leisure and hospitality offer central to this.”
