New towns win on house price growth

The country’s new towns have outperformed the average over the last 10 years when it comes to house price growth, with Milton Keynes the top performer, a report by Halifax shows.

Home prices in the country’s new towns have increased by 32% since 2006, beating growth of 26% across the country as a whole.

Prices in Milton Keynes, which is celebrating its 50th birthday, have soared 601% since 1986.
