Adam Crozier, the chief executive of the Football Association, has confirmed that the new Wembley Stadium will be the centrepiece of England’s bid to stage the World Cup in 2014 or 2018.
Agreement for the stadium’s redevelopment is expected this week. Work is expected to begin on the £710m arena in the early autumn of this year and be finished by 2005.
