Newcastle City Council has given the nod for Newby’s £250m mixed-use Quayside West regeneration scheme located on the banks of the River Tyne.
Located on a disused brownfield site off Skinnerburn Road that was formerly occupied by Calder Leadworks, the scheme will see 1,100 apartments, a hotel, and up to 26,300 sq ft of retail, food and drink, business and leisure space.
Pedestrian walkways, cycle routes, and public parks will also be created.
According to planning documents, 263 on-site jobs would be generated with a further 397 jobs in the supply chain.
