May appoints Javid for housing
Sajid Javid is now responsible for driving up housing supply, increasing home ownership and devolving powers, as Theresa May’s new communities secretary, replacing Greg Clark.
Clark is secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy, a new position suggesting a merger of the business and climate change departments.
JLL’s Jordan heads for CBRE
Retail investment agent Oliver Jordan is leaving JLL to work at CBRE after just over a year with the firm.
Jordan will join CBRE in September as a director in the retail investment team, working alongside Phil Cann in the central London market.
WeWork abandons Westferry
WeWork has abandoned plans to lease 45,000 sq ft at Canary Wharf Group’s 159,470 sq ft 7 Westferry Circus, E14, currently under construction.
It is the first time WeWork has pulled back on plans to lease space in the capital but it is understood the decision was not primarily driven by the Brexit vote.
JLL, CBRE and GM Real Estate are joint leasing agents on 7 Westferry Circus.
Yoga store poised for Regent St
Yoga-inspired apparel company lululemon is set to open in the 8,200 sq ft 185-191 Regent Street, W1, vacated by US fashion brand Gant.
Gant was paid a £5m premium by The Crown Estate to end its lease early and take up a £1m pa 10-year lease across the road at 184-186 Regent Street.
Southwark agrees to Skipton
Southwark Council has granted London and Regional Properties permission for a 400-home mixed-use scheme in Elephant & Castle, SE1.
The Skipton House scheme will include 500,000 sq ft of offices, a 350-seat venue, and six towers up to 40 storeys high.
